Hopefully, attached is the most current final version of my game about Dyslexia. As we talked about in class on Wednesday, I wanted to show a bit about what it’s like having a bit more severe case of dyslexia, where you see a diary with misspelled words and a tablet with a page open about dyslexia to show that it takes longer to read. I got some great feedback about what to potentially add to make it better, and since I want to continue working on this after this quarter is done, I intend to add those suggestions.
The three artists I took the main inspiration from are Meg Mooney, Gundrun Hasle, and Nick Fagan. All three did at least a few pieces about dyslexia, but they did give me idea’s on how to make the text for the tablet and diary. This, in turn, helped build up the concept and theme of, at a base level, dyslexia, but also about showing what a person with dyslexia experiences when reading and writing. When I continue working on this, I’m going to be adding on more things that people with dyslexia experience, but wasn’t able to fit in in the ten week time span.
The final version of this didn’t change too much. The main changes were just mechanical things, such as adding buttons to pull up the popup text boxes for the tablet and diary. The visuals also took a bit of a hit because I spent a bit longer than anticipated on the mechanics of the game.
